FAQS

F: Do Fiberay GBIC and SFP transceivers meet Class I laser safety requirements?
A: All Fiberay's GBIC and SFP transceivers are compliant with FDA 21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11.Class I laser safety standards. These products are certified by TUV and CSA to meet the Class 1 eye safety requirements of EN (IEC) 60825 and the electrical safety requirements of EN (IEC) 60950. Copies of these certificates are available from Fiberay's upon request.
F: Does the Fiberay's GBIC or SFP transceiver support intercommunication of two transceivers with diffe
A: Fiberay's GBIC and SFP transceivers support three different wavelengths: 850nm, 1310nm and 1550nm.
The 850nm module must be connected with the 850nm module.
A 1310nm module can be connected with a 1550nm module, but the user must pay careful attention not to overload power of receiver. When the incoming optical power of receiver exceeds the overload value, a attenuator should be utilized.
When the same wavelength modules (1310nm or 1550nm) connect with each other, the input optical power range of the receiver should also be considered. (Example: FTM-5012C-L80/FTM-5112C-L120 connects with FTM-5012C-L80/FTM-5112C-L120, please refer to the figure below)
F: What are some of the common failures found that inhibit GBIC/SFP transceivers from working properly?
A: When a GBIC/SFP transceiver fails to work properly, please check for one of the following:
a)Whether the GBIC transceiver is properly inserted.
b)Whether the transceiver gives out alarms normally.
c)Whether the output optical power of the GBIC transceiver module is normal.
d)Whether GBIC transceiver is shut down by the ‘”TX Disable” signal.
e)Whether the receiving optical power of the GBIC transceiver module is within the operation range.
f)Whether the power supply is right (in the range of 3.13V-5.5V) and the host board is working normally.
g)Whether the information in the EEPROM of the module is accordant with the GBIC MSA specification (SFF-8053).
h)Whether the proper fiber is used.
i)Whether the GBIC transceiver modules are working in pairs; whether the situation of having a 850nm transceiver on one host and a 1310nm or 1550nm GBIC transceiver on the other host is happening.
j)Whether the fiber’s end-face is obscured by any contamination. If yes, please clean with proper cleaning procedures.
k)Whether the transceiver’s receptacle or fiber’s connector is damaged. If yes, please replace it with a new one.
F: What is Fiberay Quality Policy?
A: At Fiberay's, we believe that our customers define quality. They do this daily with the products and services they purchase and provide. Our customers buy products and services based on perceived value - that is, they measure the benefits against the costs and select the product and service that provides them the most value. Fiberay's has received the ISO9001:2000 certificate issued by the world famous authority organization BSI and all processes regarding research and development, manufacture and services are established and standardized based on ISO9001:2000 requirements. Fiberay's is committed to maintaining our Quality Management System to conform to the requirements of ISO 9001:2000. Fiberay products have been tested according to American and European product safety and electromagnetic compatibility regulations and also received relevant certificates such as TUV, UL, FCC. Fiberay's continuously realizes its goals in quality assurance and strives to enhance and perfect all processes in order to guarantee products of the highest level of quality and reliability. We are committed to building on a foundation of years of design and manufacturing experience. Fiberay's will work with its supplier partners, customers, and employees to produce the highest quality products and services to make a measurable contribution to our customers and their bottom line, using clear standards of business conduct and total quality management practices.

Quality expectation of suppliers:
Fiberay suppliers play a vital role in helping us achieve the highest quality products in the industry today. We expect our suppliers to work with us as partners to establish and achieve goals and objectives for superior Quality. We expect our suppliers to have in place a quality management system that is equivalent to that described in the international ISO 9001:2000 standard.
F: Is it possible to have a high-speed signal interface circuit design for GBIC transceivers for refe
A: Customers can utilize the block diagram of high-speed signal interface circuit design of our SFP transceivers below as a reference. Please pay careful attention to the following points:
a)For optimum performance the high-speed differential signal lines in the PCB should be equal in length and has a 75W characteristic impedance.
b)The high-speed signal interfaces should be terminated differentially with a 150W resistor.
c)Single-ended operation is not recommended with consideration of system performance.
